This is the first book of the Kate and Tristan series I have read and it is thoroughly enjoyable。 Set in Devon and Somerset UK。 Always nice to find a new author and I will now need to find some in the back catalog。

I so wanted to gain a growing love for this series but felt an irritating sense of this being "reading for dummies" as characters performed activities which were then constantly explained as if the reader couldn't interpret for themselves。 Then there was the narrative's journey where amateur sleuths put together a series of "coincidences"， contact and speak to an international array of witnesses from the cold case some of whom handily link into the backstory of previous books， a seamless link up I so wanted to gain a growing love for this series but felt an irritating sense of this being "reading for dummies" as characters performed activities which were then constantly explained as if the reader couldn't interpret for themselves。 Then there was the narrative's journey where amateur sleuths put together a series of "coincidences"， contact and speak to an international array of witnesses from the cold case some of whom handily link into the backstory of previous books， a seamless link up with the police so they were working in tandem etc。I almost stopped reading as our detective agency wannabees from Devon drove to Somerset where "neither of them had been" before。。。。Really？ There is only a very small part of Devon that does not border Devon。 Stupidities like this littered the story。No more of this series for me 。。。more

“What now？ She had to disappear。 Her body。 Her computer。 All DNA evidence had to vanish。”This riveting thriller starts off with the disappearance of a journalist and just keeps adding on the suspense and victims like a snowball。 The third book in the Kate Marshall series has her starting her PI business with a giant case for her to solve。 The twists and turns and trying to keep track of all that was happening in this story was an absolute blast。 I read this as a standalone but will not definitel “What now？ She had to disappear。 Her body。 Her computer。 All DNA evidence had to vanish。”This riveting thriller starts off with the disappearance of a journalist and just keeps adding on the suspense and victims like a snowball。 The third book in the Kate Marshall series has her starting her PI business with a giant case for her to solve。 The twists and turns and trying to keep track of all that was happening in this story was an absolute blast。 I read this as a standalone but will not definitely be going back and reading the others in this series。 This is my first Bryndza book that I have read and am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed his writing。 I loved yet again that there were alternating chapters to give you perspectives on not just the investigators but the perpetrator perspective at the same time。 I do have to be a bit honest and say tho that it did not immediately grab my attention and I was almost 30% thru the book before I really didn’t want to put it down。 I feel like the flow started to work better they were deeper into the case and more things were happening。 The beginning was just a bit too slow for me and I love a slow burn。 I definitely recommend this book for any readers out there who love a good thriller/mystery and can’t wait to read the next installment。 Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more
